New! Coronavirus Regulations - Face Masks

Employers should note that in certain industries, workers are now compelled by law to wear face coverings, but it is the employee/worker who is responsible for paying the fine (£200) for committing the offence if they do not comply.

Regulation 2 of the The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Wearing of Face Coverings in a Relevant Place and on Public Transport) (England) (Amendment) (No. 3) Regulations 2020 amends the existing legislation on face coverings now making it clear that workers in places listed in Schedule 3 must wear masks, which includes:-

●      shop workers

●      shopping centres

●      restaurants and bars

●      banks

●      hotels

but does not include solicitors' offices or barristers' chambers.

Note - the reasonable excuse exception continues to apply.

I’ve personally worked with Ortolan Legal’s managing director on a number of transactions. Their legal advice doesn’t come wrapped in multiple caveats; it takes account of the commercial realities businesses face. Technically, they are really capable and they’re also highly personable people to work with. They represent real value for money.
