Pensions Auto Enrolment - 50-249 Employees?

You may be aware the concept of auto enrolment has seen huge changes in the world of pensions and businesses.  Auto-enrolment will ultimately mean an employee has to opt out of a system in which their employer is obliged to provide a pension scheme into which the employee and the employer must contribute.  It is another way the government is seeking to protect the aging population and help protect against OAPs having to rely solely on a state pension.

Employers have been grouped according to their size and have different staging dates to start the enrolment process. The staging period for employers with more than 250 employees started on 1 October 2012 and will end on 1 February 2014. For employers with between 50 and 249 employees the staging dates starts on 1 April 2014 and ends on 1 April 2015.

I’ve personally worked with Ortolan Legal’s managing director on a number of transactions. Their legal advice doesn’t come wrapped in multiple caveats; it takes account of the commercial realities businesses face. Technically, they are really capable and they’re also highly personable people to work with. They represent real value for money.
