Wage increases for 2022
Employers should be aware that wage bills will once again increase in 2022.
National Living Wage
From 1 April 2022, the National Living Wage will increase by 6.62 2.2% (59p per hour) from £8.91 to £9.50, payable to all workers aged 23 and above.
National Minimum Wage rates
The National Minimum Wage which is payable to those from 16 - 22 also increases from 1 April 2022, as follows:
● 21 to 22 an increase of £0.82 from £8.36 to £9.18 per hour
● 18 to 20 an increase of £0.27 from £6.56 to £6.83 per hour
● 16 to 17 an increase of £0.19 from £4.62 to £4.81 per hour
The Apprentice rate increases to £4.81 and the accommodation offset, £8.70.
NICs are set to rise by 1.25% for most workers, in place from 6 April 2022, although this has been contested.
Statutory rates for maternity, paternity, shared parental pay, adoption and sick pay
The Department for Work and Pensions proposes to make the following increases from April 2022.
The weekly rate for family related leave increases from £151.97 to £156.66.
Statutory Sick Pay rates increase by £3 to £99.35.
